Pepper Soup is a very popular appetizer that is widely prepared for home consumption, commercial purpose (like restaurants and bars) and for events like birthday parties, get-togethers etc. that is best prepared and eaten in the evening.
Aside occasions, peppersoup is among the best remedy for cough, catarrh and cold seasons.
There are different types of pepper soup that can be prepared such as
- Goat Meat Pepper Soup,
- Chicken Pepper Soup,
- Mackrel Fish Pepper Soup,
- Cat Fish Pepper Soup etc.
Today at Dee’s Mealz, I will be showing you how to prepare assorted meat pepper soup which comprises of the goat tripe(shaki), liver, lungs, kidney and the heart.

So, let’s begin cooking.
- 1.5 kg of assorted goat meat
- 2 small size onion
- 1 1/2 cooking spoon of grounded pepper
- 3 seasoning cubes
- 1/2 tbls of curry powder
- 1/2 tbls of thyme
- 1 tbls of Pepper Soup Spices (combination of Calabash Nutmeg, Ginger, Uziza seeds and Uda seeds )
- 5 cloves of garlic
NIGERIAN PEPPER SOUP PREPARATION
Thoroughly wash the pieces of meat.
After washing, put the washed pieces of meat in to a pot and add enough water to the pot.
Then set on heat to cook for 40 minutes.
Wash and chop the onion bulb and set aside.
Also chop the garlic and set aside.
After 40 minutes into cooking, add the grounded/blended pepper.
Next, add the chopped onion and garlic to the pot.
Add the thyme, curry powder, pepper soup spice, seasoning cubes and salt to taste.
Mix and allow to cook for 30 more minutes.
Note: I’m letting it cook for that long so that it can be easily chewed.
When all cooked, then it’s ready to be served.
This recipe is really good for Christmas and January’s cold weather.
Serve while hot.
