Fish roll is a snack recipe that is deep fried after being filled with mashed fish that is mixed with other ingredients and spices. A recipe you will be learning today on Dee’s Mealz.
It is prepared using flour and other ingredients mixed to form a dough and cooked mashed fished also mixed with other ingredients.

I had to make the fish roll twice. The first ones didn’t turn out well…we learn everyday.

NIGERIAN FISH ROLL PREPARATION
First, you wash the pieces of fish very well. Then pack into a pot.

Add a seasoning cube, salt and water to the level of the fish then set on heat to cook.

Now break the egg in a bowl, add the sugar and milk. Then whisk.

Next is to add the butter to the flour and mix together till the butter mixes well with the flour.

Turn the whisked egg, sugar and milk mixture into the flour. Rinse the bowl with a little water and turn in the flour.

Then knead to form a dough.
If it needs more water, then you can add a little more and continue kneading.
With the dough now ready, cover it and set it aside.
Now set the fish of heat and pack into a plate.

Allow to cool down a bit before you debone it.

After you have deboned the fish, use a cooking spoon and mash it.

Set a pot on heat and add 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil.

Allow to heat up a bit before adding the chopped onions and red bell pepper.

Mix and allow to fry for 2-3 minutes on low heat.
Next is to add the mashed fish and mix together. Allow for 2 minutes before setting off the heat.

I didn’t add more seasoning to it because the previous ones I added was okay in it.
Now the rolling begins.
I will then cut the dough little by little and mold it. Then roll a bit flat and round in shape.

Then I will now add a full tablespoon of the fish mix at the side of the dough and roll it with the fish filling carefully tucked in.

The finally seal the both ends to avoid poping open when frying.

Continue the process above till you are done rolling.

Now set the oil enough to deep fry on heat to get a bit hot.
Then drop the fish rolls gently in the oil side by side.
Check continuously to avoid it getting burnt underneath.

When it has turned all golden brown, it means it is ready.

You can now pack out of the oil and allow to cool down before serving with a drink of choice.
