Another recipe today with Dee’s Mealz is known as Nigerian peppered Dry fish. It is prepared using dry catfish or tilapia fish but I will be using catfish for this recipe.

Peppered fish is an appetizer recipe that can be prepared for occasions, to be eaten with Abacha or just for the urge of it.
You will need the fish to be soft when preparing this recipe and for that to happen, you just need to add some hot water to it and allow to soak for a while before using it.
If you will be roasting the fish yourself like I did, then you need to check my step by step post on How To Clean / Wash Catfish For Pepper Soup Or Roasting

So, let’s begin cooking.
INGREDIENTS
- 7 pieces of dry fish
- 2 pieces of bell pepper
- 1 habanero pepper
- 6 pieces of Chili pepper
- 3 pieces of garlic Cloves
- 1 tsp of spices (calabash nutmeg and ginger combined)
- 1 medium size chopped onion
- Scent leaves
- 2 tbls of Vegetable oil
- 1 seasoning cube
- Salt

PEPPERED DRY FISH PREPARATION
The first thing to do is to heat up some water and add to the fish. Set it aside for 10 – 20 minutes.

Now wash the peppers. Remove the seeds from the bell pepper when washing.
Then pound or blend with the garlic cloves.
Also pick the scent leaves and chop it then wash it and set it aside.

When this fish is soft, throw out the water and add some more water to it.

Then wash it well before packing into a plate.

Now set an empty pot on heat and add the pounded of blended pepper to it.
Note: I added a little water to the pepper mix to avoid my peppered fish getting too dry or getting burnt.

Also add the chopped onions and mix.

Allow to boil a bit before adding the vegetable oil, seasoning cube, salt and spices.

Mix and allow to cook for a minute or two.
When the time is up, add the washed fish and the scent leaves to the pot.

Mix and allow to cook for 2 minutes on low heat to make the fish absorb the seasoning.

Then you can off the heat and serve.
