Welcome back to Dee’s Mealz. You will be learning how to cook Spaghetti with Ugu leaves, today. Some use African spinach but I prefer to use Ugu because it gives a better or let’s say upgraded taste.
Spaghetti is very special to some adult but more to kids. Some refer to it as Pasta. Mixing it up with some vegetables (like ugu in this case) will balance it up.
Here’s a video that will help you out as you cook.
These are the ingredients you’ll need to cook this Spaghetti with Ugu leaves.
- 1 sachet of Spaghetti
- 1 sachet of tomato paste
- Fresh garlic
- 7 pieces of pepper
- 1 small size onion
- Chopped Ugu leaves
- 5 seasoning cubes
- Vegetable Oil
Before we begin cooking, chop the ugu leaves, add a teaspoon of salt, add water, mix well and allow to rest for 5 minutes.
Note: you can use more vegetables to your cooking.
Peel the garlic and grate with the washed Pepper and Onion.
Okay now let’s begin cooking.
Set your pot on heat, add vegetable oil. Allow to heat up for 30 seconds.
Add the tomato paste, the grated Garlic, Pepper and Onion. Stir and allow to fry for 5 minutes.
When the 5 minutes is up, add 2 ½ cups of water to the pot, salt to taste and the 5 seasoning cubes. Stir, close the pot and allow to boil.
Break the spaghetti in half and add to the boiling water. Mix and allow to cook.
When the water is almost dried up, wash the Ugu leaves with water twice, strain and add to the pot. Mix well, close the pot and allow to dry up.
And it’s ready to be served.
