When we say egg roll, the Korean or Chinese Recipe comes to mind but today’s recipe is the Nigerian Egg Roll also called African Egg Roll.
It is prepared using flour, cooked eggs, butter and other ingredients that you will get to find out soon.
This version of egg roll has an egg wrapped well with dough and is also deep fried.

When preparing the mixture, the dough needs to be very soft this will make it easy when the time comes to roll the egg in the dough.
So, let’s begin.
INGREDIENTS
- 4 cups of flour
- 11 Eggs
- 125g of butter
- 83ml or 1/3 cup of sugar
- 3 tbls of powdered milk
- 1/2 tsp of active yeast (optional)
- 1.2ml or 1/4 tsp of baking powder
- 1.2ml or 1/4 tsp of salt
PREPARATION
Add a liter of water to a pot on heat.
Put the eggs in the pot, close and allow to boil for 10 minutes.
When the time is up, off the heat, throw out the hot water and add cool water to the eggs and peel off the back. Set the peeled egg in a suitable bowl and set aside.

Add the sugar, milk and yeast to a bowl, add 200ml of water, mix well and set aside.
Sieve the flour and turn in a suitable bowl, add the butter and mix together.
To make the sieving process easier, here is a handheld flour shaker I found on Amazon.
Add your baking powder, salt then mix.
Spread the flour in the middle and add the sugar and milk.
Add a little water, rinse the bowl and turn. Mix well to form a dough.
Note: the dough should be very soft.
Cut a little of the dough and spread on your hand
Roll the egg in the flour and place it on the flattened dough. Wrap the egg well in the dough.

Continue this process until the dough is finished.

Set the oil on heat enough to deep fry and drop the rolled egg roll gently in the oil when hot.

Mix and allow to fry. You will know it’s fried when all golden brown and floating in the oil.
And it’s ready.
Pack out of the oil and allow to cool down before serving with a chilled drink of your choice.
