Catfish pepper soup is one of those appetizer recipes that most people are never tired of on night outs, home gatherings, or get-togethers.
It doesn’t take time to cook and is also very soft when cooked. It also has the best taste when cooked with the right ingredients.
You don’t need to have all the ingredients, just the right ones.
To prepare this recipe, the first thing to do is to wash the sliminess off the catfish.

To prepare this recipe, we will be needing the washed catfish, some curry leaves, spices etc.
Everyone has their preference. In other words, some people don’t like that it is too soft while others don’t like the stench of fresh fish.
So to avoid this situation, it’s best to roast the fish, after washing and cutting to suitable sizes, for a while in an oven or using a local charcoal stove.
Roasting it will drain or reduce the level of water as well as the smell of the fish. However, it is going to take more time.
Then you can use it to prepare your pepper soup.
So, let’s begin cooking.
• 2 medium size catfish
• 4 habanero pepper
• 3 chili pepper
• ½ tsp. of grounded Calabash nutmeg
• ½ tsp of grounded Uziza seed
• 1 seasoning cube
• Curry leaves

Catfish Pepper Soup Recipe Preparation
The first thing to do is to pick and chop the curry leaves.
Wash and pound the pepper, onion, and set aside.
Cut the washed catfish to suitable sizes and wash well again to make it clean.
Turn the washed pieces of fish to a pot and set on heat.
Add the pounded pepper and onion to the pot.
Now add 500ml of water to the pot.
Wash and add the chopped curry leaves to the pot.
Add the grounded calabash nutmeg, and uziza seed.
Add the seasoning cube, and salt to taste.
Mix well, cover the pot and allow to cook for 15 – 20 minutes.
After the time is up, you can serve with a chilled drink of choice.
